This statue of Oscar Wilde is one of my favourites and can be found in the Merrion Square Park in a lovely shady area, across from two smaller works of art, decorated with famous Wilde quotes. Oscar grew up in a house in no.1 Merrion Square, so I always think it's really fitting to have placed this where it is.
Another reason why I love it is that because of the height of the statue, every time we drive past the park we can see Oscar's head peeking out above the bushes, which always tickles me a little bit. What can I say, I'm easily pleased.
I love this too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great, I love that whole park too.
DeleteOh I really don't like this statue :/ sorry we studied it for school and I just grimace every time I see his creepy smirk uhhh shivers
ReplyDeleteAh sure, it's good to get different opinions on things, it'd be a very boring world altogether if we all thought the same! ;)
DeleteI discovered him by mistake one day on an open-top bus tour (do NOT ask) but I always look out for him whenever I'm up that direction!
ReplyDeleteWe did the open top bus tour recently too! But it hailstoned on us :(
