Topshop Pansy Print Dress

Today's #SBBC choice was either a favourite item of clothing or beauty pet peeves and since I immediately thought of this dress when I read the topics, I decided to go for the former. This red, pansy print dress was part of the original Kate Moss for Topshop range, launched in 2006. I picked up a few pieces from that collection that I still love but I just know that this wraparound, be-frilled dress will remain a wardrobe staple for me forever.

The reason why I love this dress so much is that it never lets me down- it's at those times where you're wracking your brain trying to think of what to wear and then the perfect, failsafe item pops into your head. That's this little number for me. In summer I wear it over 50's style rolled up jeans with sunnies and red lipstick and in Winter I wear it with thick black tights, a woolly cardigan, boots and again, red lippie..cause that never changes! The details on this are gorgeous too- ruched sleeves, an inconspicuous frill around the bottom, a not-so inconspicuous frill to the front (helping us non chesty-la-rue ladies out), and generally just a beautiful cut and fit.
But aside from all of that, this dress says everything about me- a bright, vintage style floral in a 40's cut is easily my go-to when it comes to clothes- if I could wear any style forever, it would be this.
Here I am wearing it with the lovely Aundrea from Dancing With Disaster at the bloggers Christmas meet-up last year:

    1. Thank you! That doesn't sound boring at all! I used to have this little white shift dress that I wore til it basically fell apart, so I totally know where you're coming from! Grey is a fantastic colour on everyone too, I think. xx

  2. The dress is stunning, a very pretty piece to have in your wardrobe. I'm no good with staple pieces - I suppose I do have one 'failsafe' dress, the one I go to when I'm out of options, it's a chiffon knee-length navy dress with a scoop neck and long sleeves, it has gotten me out of many a bind :)

  4. Gorgeous, such a staple item! I always find myself leaning spring summer autumn or winter toward my black maxi skirt or black tutu (leftover from my *ahem* emo/goth mid-teens!) Not as pretty as your dress but they haven't left me down yet! x

    1. You can't beat a good black maxi and I also used to rock a tutu back in the day (mine was multi coloured, not sure I'd get away with it now unfortunately ;) x

  7. I remember you wearing this dress the first time I met you, in said photo's event, and thinking it was just so lovely! A fabulous investment you made in it and it has certainly served you well, and will continue too:)

Side note, I look so disgruntled in the background.
