Oh the lure of the nail polish is never far away..
I picked up these little lovelies in Dundrum last week but as I hadn't had a chance to remove my Everlasting OPI polish I had put on for the old nuptials (which drove me slightly INSANE by the way, it caught on everything and some nails were chipped and my nails looked like they'd grown a crazy amount so the polish was MILES down the nail bed..AARGH!! Yes, I know- First world problem) so I was looking forward to painting my nails after my appointment to have it removed and wearing a colour that is not a pastel blue, as much as I love it. Unfortunately my nails are in bits from the Everlasting polish so I'm using OPI Nail Envy for the next two weeks to get them into good shape for a family wedding and then I shall be breaking out the colour! Here's my little polish haul:
Ciate Paint Pots in Apples and Custard (a beautiful smooth green creme, it reminds me of the colour of vintage enamel tiles in French Cafes) and Twilight (a black base with very fine gold glitter).
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Cherry Cherry Bang Bang (a rich purple creme, I've been after this for an absolute age!) and Commander in Chic (a nude/beige creme).
Rimmel Stronger Double Duty Base Coat, Pro Super Wear Ultra Shine Top coat and Professional Finish in Trend Spotting (a black cherry shade, potentially a dupe for Chanel's Rouge Noir).
OPI Nail Envy
The one that's preventing me from actually swatching any of the above lovelies for you..all in good time! (it's going to kill me having these and not being able to use them! Aargh!) Nail Envy contains Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and Calcium to strengthen natural nails. Suggested use is two coats to start off with, followed by one coat every other day. Fingers crossed (ha) it does the job!
Lovely colours! I'm in love with that green kind of tiffany blue colour from Dior. It's fab. Never tried Sally Hansen. They look great :) x
ReplyDeleteYeah, that Dior green is so lovely, I think the Ciate is really like it- I'm an absolute terror for buying similar coloured nail polishes! Never tried Sally Hansen either but I'm really looking forward to it, I've read great things!xx
DeleteOoh, the dark green looks intriguing! Any chance of a swatch? x
ReplyDeleteOh you can be sure of it! I have to do 2 more days of the nail strengthener and then I'm allowed put on a colour, the dark Ciate shall be first, in honour of your request! :-) xx
DeleteThe Ciate colors look so pretty, but I can only order them from Sephora. Delivery is a pain if no one's at home to let the guy in.
ReplyDeleteI think most nail proteins work pretty well. I've been using them for years. I'm at a point now that I just use it as a base coat. Since I change my shade weekly, my protein routine is also applied only weekly. Can't remember the last time I broke a nail. Currently, I'm using the Butter London's Horse Power and before that, Nailtiques.
To be honest, I'm a little bit sceptical about the OPI, I'm pretty sure I used Nail Envy a few years ago to no effect but I could be mixing that up with one of the Sally Hansen Strengtheners. I know what you mean about delivery, we don't have many stockists of brands like OPI and Ciate so they can be hard to come by unless ordering them online and then I have the same issue with the delivery man! I absolutely love Butter London, the Trustafarian shade you have on your blog at the moment is so beautiful!xx
DeleteCeeCee you will love OPI, my talons honestly haven't been the same since I started using it.
ReplyDeleteLove your Ciaté picks too, I won't allow myself even look at their stand x
Oh great, thanks Sue, that's reassuring. After spending 20 quid on it I'd have been pretty gutted if there was no improvement! Yeah Ciate are lovely, I'm mad after Jewel, a super sparkly number..*must use polishes I already have first!*
