Being the little perfume lover that I am, I was thrilled to see Roger & Gallet have launched a new fragrance, Fleur de Figuier and was even more delighted to receive a generous sample size of the Fresh Fragrant Water, Gentle Shower Cream and Replenishing Body Lotion so I could try it for myself. The lovely team at Roger & Gallet also sent me a full size of the Fleur d'Osmanthus Fresh Fragrant Water so now I just smell like a garden of beautiful blooms all the time, which is pretty fantastic really.
First things first, a little about the brand. Roger & Gallet was created in Paris in 1862 and to this day continues to make beautiful blends of perfumes from essential oils and rare, natural ingredients.
Because of their variety of scents (particular favourites include Ginger, Blue Lotus, Rose Imaginaire and Green Tea) and the fact that you can layer your scent using shower cream, soap, body lotion as well as perfume means that the sets the brand produce make beautiful and luxurious gifts (I've picked up one or two of these sets as presents for loved ones in the past) and are always a delight to receive. Also, just check out the stunning packaging. That Art Deco design is very aesthetically pleasing, the bottle looks so at home on my dressing table and makes me think of the sort of glass bottles stylish ladies would have used in the 1920's. I do love a bit of vintage glamour.
These are my samples of Fleur de Figuier. When I took them out of the packaging I was bowled over by the stunning smell of figs- although it's sweet, it also has a warm, earthy tone that is perfect for Summer but will work equally as well during Autumn- it's kind of the perfect, all year round scent. The Fresh Fragrant Water is incredibly long lasting, I wore this all day and didn't need to reapply it once, which is pretty impressive. I've gotten plenty of compliments when I've worn this- it's a very unique but refreshing scent, which I think will suit all ages.
The Gentle Shower Cream seems like a bit of a wonder product- it's suitable for sensitive skin, creates a soft rich lather and manages to keep the skin nice and soft thanks to the addition of Shea butter, perfect for my naturally dry skin.
Similarly, the Replenishing Body Lotion is quickly and easily absorbed, contains fig pulp known for it's softening properties and effect on suppleness. Unlike a lot of moisturisers, I found this just sank in really well, was non-greasy and non-sticky. Also good to know is that both the shower cream and the body lotion are paraben free and hypoallergenic and suitable for vegans and vegetarians, so like I said, the perfect gift for anyone really.

Oh Fleur d'Osmanthus, you are just a beautiful fragrance. Yes, I am talking to a bottle of perfume. It's that good. From my first spray of this, I have not stopped wearing it. Every time I use it Himself remarks how lovely I smell and that's always a good indicator for me! The brand describe this as having characteristics inspired by a Chinese Garden of Eden, with a combination of floral notes, citrus fruit and wood. I feel like this is a scent that would suit most people because it's light, fresh and Summery- so very wearable.
When I wear it I get an instant hit of citrus (which makes sense as it contains mandarin and grapefruit) and although that lingers, a beautiful, delicate floral smell (the Osmanthus flower) takes centre stage once the fragrance settles into the skin. This for me, is the perfect mix. I'm not a big fan of straight up sweet scents- I need something a bit more complex and I feel like this is the perfect option for me. It also contains Benzoin essential oils, which are reported to have a calming and uplifting effect on the mind- something I think we can all do with at times! Fleur d'Osmanthus is officially my ideal Summer daytime scent and I think I may have to check out the body lotion and shower cream in the range too!

I've only recently ventured into the world of Roger & Gallet, our local pharmacy has just started stocking it and I can't keep away from the stand! I have to embarrassingly admit that I had no idea what the fragrant water was for, not a clue. It didn't register with me that it was a perfume! I got their Lait des Bienfaits body lotion (the orange one) and it's just gorgeous, it smells so luxurious and rich, and sinks into the skin so well. Beautiful products!
