Essence Peel Off Base Coat & Revlon Girly

I've wanted to try the Essence peel off base coat for a while now but for the life of me I could not find it anywhere.

Essence Peel Off Base Coat

Step in the lovely Sharon from Behind Green Eyes, who not only found a bottle but then sent it to me. Little legend that she is. The deal with this is that you apply a generous layer, then allow 10 minutes to dry until the white base coat turns transparent. Then you can apply your sparkly top coat or basic glitter polish. When you're sick of it, you just peel it off and avoid the horrors of trying to remove a glittery nail polish with regular remover, which as we all know destroys your nails and is generally incredibly annoying and time-consuming.
To test it out properly, I applied Revlon's super glittery top coat in Girly- a milky pink base full of small pink and lilac pieces and large hexagonal purple and fuchsia pieces. It's so pretty.

Revlon Nail Polish in Girly

This lasted me over seven days. SEVEN days people. You're right to gasp, that's impressive. I genuinely expected it to last a couple of days before it chipped like crazy so I was so pleased with this and when I went to remove it, it really made it much less of a hassle. Hopefully you too know a Sharon or your Penneys is better stocked than mine but either way, you should try and get your hands on it if you're a fan of glitters! I can highly recommend it!

    1. 10 mins is a long old drying time in fairness but for how long it lasted then I thought it was worth it. It could've been the Revlon that made it last so long too- they make such good quality polishes.

  2. That is lovely. I don't mind the horrific battle with glitter and tinfoil (I do hate the dry hands after the acetone though) but that basecoat is such a good idea. Sharon is always amazing for polish hook-ups :P

    1. As she's the best! Yeah I can't be doing with the tinfoil & acetone- my nails do not appreciate it one bit!

  3. As novel as the idea is, I don't think I'd last seven days! Even with a regular base coat, once my polish starts looking worn and chipped, I can't stop picking at it. It'd come in handy when I wanted to wear glitzy sparkly polish though, think I'll have to pick myself up some!

    1. I tend to leave a colour on for a week at a time if I can get away with it but I know what you mean, once it starts chipping it has to go!

  4. Sharon is AMAZING! She once sent me a load of essence nail toppers as I couldn't find them.

I have the peel off base, I find it good but I def need to remember to let it fully dry, otherwise if I put a coat over it, it can 'ripple' polish. Not too bad if it's glitter but if it's not glitter and you plan on putting glitter over it, it can show up.

Also, I really want that Revlon! It reminds me of Nails Inc Topping Lane

    1. Yeah I did find it annoying how long it takes to dry and actually now I think of it, I got water on one of the nails before I could put the glitter on and I had to start again. Grr. Oh I love the Revlon, it reminds me of all of those speckled polishes that were out but half the price!

  6. Amazing! I didn't know about this. I wonder if I can get something similar in the U.S. I would love glitter as a full mani, but I just stick to accent nails mostly because the removal is so hard.

    1. Apparently PVA glue does the same thing..although I would feel reluctant about putting glue on my nails!
