Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil

Shu Uemura Cleanser, or to give it its official title "Shu Uemura High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil- Advanced Formula" (Phew) is one of those products that is hailed by all on the beauty blogosphere as being the second coming of Christ (if Christ were in fact a fabulous cleanser, rather than a deity-appropriate given the weekend thats in it) so I said I'd give it a whirl. Apologies for the terrible shot, I blame the lighting..not my poor photography skills obviously..ahem:

Firstly, the instructions for this suggests 3-4 pumps of the oil onto dry hands, I only used 1-2, I suppose it depends how dirty you consider your face to be, I had a full face of make-up on and 1-2 pumps cleaned that off nicely. I will say though that separate eye make up remover may be a good idea, I tried the oil to remove eyeliner and mascara (evil, evil Benefit's "They're Real", which doesn't come off easily at the best of times) and I looked somewhat akin to the Joker, minus the terrifying lipstick and manic grin..well maybe not minus the manic grin.
You then smooth the oil (which smells nice, by the by) onto your dry face, wet it to emulsify the oil and rinse off with water. Another valid point here is that you should use fairly warm water- the first time I used it was with hot water and it worked a treat, today I used it with luke-warm/cold water and it occurred to me in the midst of this that oil and cold water aren't a good cleansing combination. Or a good combination in general..Its a shocker, I know.
The bottom line here though is that this is an excellent cleanser. My skin felt clean and amazingly soft after use..which pretty much never happens when I use a cleanser (the soft part, not the clean part) so this has now taken a coveted place next to the other much-loved products in my bathroom. A privilege, I'm sure you'll agree.
And so to the downsides! Main one is the cost. I decided to get the smaller size (28.00 sterling for 150ml) cause I didn't want to spend the full amount on the larger size (56.50 sterling for 450ml..ouch) and end up with a big bottle of useless oil on my hands..literally. Have to say though, I do think this is worth the cost, my skin feels great so I will most likely buy the bigger bottle the next time.
It is also slightly messier than using cleanser and cotton wool but I'm sure I'll get over that.
Lastly, I always have trouble pronouncing this brand's name, generally I just mumble something that sounds similar and back away slowly from whomever I'm talking to. Granted, this is not really a downside and I'm sure I'll get over it too. Yay!
